Northwest Scholastic Incentive Fund

Object:
To provide funds to be used for higher education.
To promote participation in the equine industry.
Eligibility: Be a member in the AQHYA. Participate in AQHA approved youth or novice youth classes.
Apply in person prior to first class entered. Must have back number before applying. Must show in at least one class in every show youth classes are offered. Need not be same class everyday, however all youth or novice youth classes entered will be counted.
Scholarship: To be awarded based on interview and success while showing. Interview consists of applying in person to a panel of 3 persons. The applicant will be judged on their presence, ability to communicate at a level consistent with their age, and overall appearance. The interview will count for 50% of total score (0 to 50 points).
The 50 points for the interview portion will be divided as follows:
5 Points Attire
10 Points Based on need
20 Points based on the following 4 criteria:
1. Accomplishments – Outside of the show arena
2. Commitment – Commitment to the horse industry
3. Desire – Desire to participate in the horse industry
4. What kind of Spokesman/Ambassador are they or will they make for the AQHA & the Oregon Summer Classic.
15 Points Presentation
A feedback section has been added so that each person that interviews will get some constructive feedback after the interview from the judging panel.
50 Points will be awarded for accomplishments in the arena at the horse show.
The following amounts will be awarded in the form of US Savings Bonds**:
1st $750.00
2nd $550.00
3rd $450.00
4th-10th $350.00
11th-14th $200.00
** 11-14 payouts subject to funds availability.
Interviews will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 starting at 9 am.
