The Great Northwest Stallion Service Auction
Dear GNFSSP Participant:
Several months ago a questionnaire was sent out to participating GNFSSP stallion owners in response to concerns regarding the program. Suggestions posed by numerous stallion owners and participants were brought before the OQHA Board of Directors and taken under consideration.
In listening to the stallion owners and participants, along with an overall decline of participation in the GNFSSP, the Oregon Quarter Horse Association has decided to end the GNFSSP in it's current form and start a new stallion service program. An explanation of this program, the OQHA Futurities Stallion Incentive Program, along with a stallion nomination form is enclosed.
The GNFSSP in it's current form will end with stallion sales in 2004 (foals of 2005) and the new program, The OQHA Futurities Stallion Incentive Program, will commence with stallion nominations in 2005.
PLEASE NOTE that the GNFSSP will run it's course. All GNFSSP foals (through the year of 2005) will have the chance to compete for the moneys garnered from the sale of the participating GNFSSP stallions in their given year. All of the OQHA futurities currently offered to the foals of the GNFSSP stallions will run through 2009 (year 4 and the last year that foals of 2005 are eligible to participate.) All moneys garnered from GNFSSP stallion sales (minus the office fee) will be paid out to participants in their respective futurities as stated under the current GNFSSP rules. In the off chance that any money is left over after the end of the program in 2009, the money will be rolled over into the office fund division of the OQHA Futurities Stallion Incentive Program.
The OQHA is excited about the new stallion service program and hopes that the changes made in the stallion service program will continue to showcase the outstanding horses competing in this area.
We thank all of the stallion owners for their past participation in the GNFSSP and look forward to their participation in the new OQHA Futurities Stallion Incentive Program.
