2012 SHOW SCHEDULE:
The 2012 show schedule is now available at Oregon-qha.com. Check it out as some dates have changed and several shows will have 6 judges!! AND GREAT NEWS…All fees have remained the same as in 2011.

Also, OQHA is again offering all-day fees for the show. The all-day fees are as follows:
All day fees:
Novice Amateur 121.00
Amateur 129.00
Novice Youth 97.00
Youth 105.00
**Cattle charges not included in all day fee. Exhibitor would also pay applicable cattle fees in addition to the all day fee.
The way the all day fee works is that you can enter as many novice amateur classes as you would like and only pay $121.00 for each set of shows (ie: Friday show pay $121.00 & Saturday/Sunday show pay $121.00).

OQHA will also be offering the BEGINNING classes at each show. A buckle will be awarded to the winner of the class. To be eligible for the Beginning Class, an exhibitor may not have lifetime earnings of $50.00 or 2.5 breed points in a specific class. Check out the rules at: Oregon-qha.com.

 

EXCITING NEWS FOR THOSE NEW TO AQHA:
The OQHA is proud to offer some of the NEW AQHA Rookie classes. Rookie classes are for exhibitors and horses who have not earned 10 lifetime points in that class. This class is for new exhibitors and horses. Come check out the list of classes at Oregon-qha.com under the show flyer for the specific show!!

OQHA YEAR-END AWRDS:
Make sure and renew your OQHA membership to be eligible for the great year-end awards! OQHA has a budget of over $25,000 for year-end awards. In 2011, four Bob’s Custom Saddles were given away, as well as many Champion and Reserve class awards. Make your showing count for year-end awards!

 

NEW: AQHA NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW:
AQHA has announced a Novice Championship show to be held in Las Vegas, NV on October 5-7, 2012. The Novice Championships will offer 40 classes each which include novice amateur and novice youth. The following classes will be offered: reining, showmanship, horsemanship, equitation, halter (all age breakdowns), western pleasure, hunter under saddle, trail, western riding, barrels and poles. The qualifying period is from May 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012. AQHA has set the national invitation guidelines as follows: An exhibitor can qualify for the Novice Championships by placing in the top ten at a regional championship show or by participating in 20 AQHA shows (aka “showing to 20 judges”) or through the State qualifying program. Invitations through this qualifying system will not be by class. As long as the exhibitor does one or the other, he or she will be eligible to enter any novice championship class. Once an exhibitor has won the class in a novice championship (in a particular class/skill set) he or she will graduate out of novice in that skill set.

 

The OQHA novice championship qualifying program will be as follows:
STATE POINT SYSTEM
– Any novice member planning to attend the Novice Championship Show will need fill out a declaration form by March 1 of the qualifying year and be an OQHA member by February 1st. The declaration is for the novice member. Multiple horses may be declared on one form. The three (3) contestants in each novice class who accumulates the most points from the OQHA approved shows within the State of Oregon from January 1 through June 30 of each year shall be eligible to represent Oregon at the Novice Championship show. The classes to be represented are the classes listed specifically as Novice classes: Halter, Western Riding, Showmanship, Horsemanship, Western Pleasure, Hunter under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Trail, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending and Reining classes. Anyone wishing to participate at the Novice Championship show in any classes not listed here, must petition the OQHA Board of Directors.

OREGON BRED REGISTRAION SALE:
Before July 1, 2012, register any Oregon Bred horse with OQHA for only $20.00 regardless of it’s age. The horse then becomes eligible for unique Summer Classic and year-end awards. Oregon Bred Forms are available on our website: Oregon-qha.com.
