Since 1999 Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center has been connecting riders with special needs to horses with special gifts. The riders are diverse. They come from different backgrounds, have different needs and dream different dreams. Some are physically disabled, others mentally challenged. Still others need a way to reconnect with a world that seems to have forgotten them. All are joined by a common experience – the joy of independence, the freedom to fly without wings, the connection of hand to rein, skin to coat, heart to beating heart.
The tie between horse and healing is clear. Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center, a non-profit organization, provides therapeutic riding experiences to children and adults with physical and emotional challenges. All of our instructors have been trained and certified through PATH International (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International), which has also accredited Healing Reins with their highest designation of a “Premier Accredited Center”. (Formerly NARHA), a PATH International registered instructors and dedicated volunteers match the right horse to the right rider. They enhance the rider’s physical function, improve self-esteem, and ultimately unite two kindred spirits.
The horse isn’t just a ride, however. It is the bridge from, “I can’t to “I can”, powerlessness to strength, the link that makes it possible for two spirits to run free and countless hearts to soar.

We're always on the lookout for the ideal therapy horse here at Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center.
Healing Reins is currently accepting only care-leased horses. We are open to the right horse(s) for donation.
We prefer horses that have had a career, such as showing western, English or Dressage, 4-H, roping, ranching or extensive trail riding.
Miles and experience add up to the quiet, assured horse our riders need. To fit into our program, a horse must be:
Sound at all three gaits.
Able to walk, trot and canter in an arena.
Easy to get along with and have excellent ground manners.
Easy to catch.
Free of vices, such as kicking, biting.
Between the ages of 6 and 21;
Not over 16.3 hands.
Healing Reins currently has a special need for a Gelding that is bombproof quiet, stout, sturdy, and between 15 and 15.3 hands tall.
We also are on the lookout for a draft or draft cross with the same temperament as above.
